Threaded washers or screws with washers and nuts are used to connect construction woods. There are standards which describe washers regarding the used threads. If there is a standard given or in case you don’t want to see a connection, the washer and nut need to be counter sinked into the wood.

But as soon as you have to drill frontal –maybe even- in heartwood, the most wood drills strike after few centimetres. Because heartwood stands out by a high content of phenols. These impregnate the cell walls, the cells contain less water, are much dense and solid than the surrounding wood. But never mind, our HSS-G Machine wood drills make the cut.
