125 years of FAMAG® Forstner drill bits! The perfect moment to choose this absolute classic among wood drills as Product of the Year 2025!
You might think that the drill has not changed at all in all this time, but that's not the case.
The first thing that has of course changed significantly over time is the way it is manufactured. From pure manual labour to today's automated production on the latest CNC milling and grinding machines. And that doesn't just affect the look.
So, what exactly is the difference between today's FAMAG® Forstner bits and the hand-crafted drills of the past?
Excellent centring and easy feed due to special geometry of the centring tip
Perfect guiding properties in freehand applications in softwood thanks to two circumferential cutting edges
Low heat generation due to circumferential cutting edges with offset pre-cutter
Ideal chip transport thanks to round chip channels
